Farm Day, April 30, 2011



All our CSA members, their friends and family are invited out to Morning Song Farm this coming Saturday between 9-12. We've scheduled our annual llama sheering in the morning. If you've never seen this done, we think it's worth the trip alone.






Check out our super friendly dairy goats, and our baby chicks!






As always, if you could RSVP that you're coming and in how many cars, we'd appreciate it. Sometimes almost no one comes, and sometimes we have parking issues, so planning ahead is helpful on this end.....

..... Collards are here this week. Mild flavored and nutrient dense, these leafy greens are often overlooked but are worth a try! Be careful not to overcook--like other cruciferous veggies--overcooked collards have an unpleasant odor. A cancer preventing cruciferous vegetable--recent studies indicate that steamed collard greens have the greatest cholesteral-lowering ability of all leafy greens. Milder flavored than typical arugula; this popular Japanese leafy green will add some zip to an otherwise mundane salad. Harvest Shot April 8-9 2014

Harvest shot for this week. We lost much of our early mulberry crop to unseasonably windy nights. Just such a disappointment to see so much of our beautiful fruit on the ground. Squeaked by with very small portions for all Large Shares this week from our earliest trees. We do have half an acre of later fruit coming in, and look forward to a less meager provisions.
