Mulberries

The wierd looking black-berry kind of fruit is Pakastani Mulberries. Enjoy them fresh right out of their little baskets! Many of our avocados that were burned in October will come back in the next couple years. One hundred of them won't. We plan to replace those 100 with the mulberry tree, which has less water needs. Tell me what you think!

Hi Donna -- we loved the mulberries at Temecula Olive Oil Co.! After all the jokes about eating caterpillars, we all started bartering for who could take them home. They were great! Milder and sweeter than wild blackberries, but still very "berry" tasting.

I read Amy's comment and have to agree. I had never seen such things! I was thinking yesterday they are the perfect kid food, because they can eat fruit while pretending they are eating caterpillars. I shared them with the neighborhood kids and they were clamoring for more! Nice flavor, too.

I have never had mulberries, but now I am hooked! My sister brought me some mulberry wine from Turkey, which was delicious, but the fresh, real thing is even better! The plant also has an interesting connection with the silk industry...
